Mindfulness Based Cognitive Training
More commonly known as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
We prefer to replace the word Therapy with Training because throughout the course we are gently and gradually training the mind to become more aware of, and respond differently to experience.
In fact it actually says in the teachers manual that this is not group therapy!
The reason it was called Therapy was to secure the funding for the research.
The researches that developed the MBCT Programme were Cognitive Behavioural Therapists and the reason they turned their attention to Mindfulness Meditation was because they were experiencing unsatisfactory results with the traditional CBT approach.
I'm an experienced Mindfulness Meditation practitioner and I must say that the combination of cognitive exercises with mindfulness meditation has been an absolute success in my personal and professional opinion.
The cognitive exercises really compliment the meditation practices and really demonstrate an awareness into the workings of the mind regarding the nature in which we habitually respond to situations in every day life.
This is the only meditation course in the country that is used by the NHS and has been approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). It has had millions spent in research and development with international clinical testing and case studies. It's a proven course and participants have experienced great improvements with a wide variety of psychological and physiological issues.

This course is suitable for those that have never experienced mindfulness meditation right through to those who are experienced practitioners. Ever day there is something new to learn and continue your self development. Even if you have done the MBCT course before I invite you to experience the Herts Compassion Mindfulness meditation MBCT programme.
