Brainwave and Brain Hemisphere Synchronisation

When we enter the meditative state there is a positive change in brainwave activity from our usual state of awaking consciousness. In meditation we enter a state of consciousness where we are relaxed, but alert and aware. This shows higher alpha and theta brainwave activity.

Alpha heightens your imagination, visualisation, memory, learning and concentration. It lies at the base of your conscious awareness and is the gateway to your subconscious mind. The identity of Alpha is your intuition, which becomes clearer and more profound the closer you get to 7.5Hz.

Theta is present during deep meditation. Theta is the realm of your subconscious mind. A sense of deep spiritual connection and oneness with the universe can be experienced at this frequency. Vivid visualisations, great inspiration, profound creativity and exceptional insight as well as your mind's most deep-rooted programs are at Theta. The identity of Theta is silence in the mind.

The beta wave readings will calm down drastically because this is the normal state of consciousness we spend most of our time in when we are awake.

In long term meditators there is an increase in gamma wave activity which is associated with bursts of insight, enhanced thought processing, increase in intellect, improved focus, better memory, more energy, anti depressive and high levels of compassion.

Practicing meditation daily balances brain activity causing the left and right hemispheres to connect and work in synchronisation. This results in better neural communication, optimising the thought process with a more integrated and economically performing system. Improving both mental and physical health,

strengthening the immune system by reducing stress induced immune responses.
